British Sandwich Week

This is a week for celebrating the British sandwich, one of the most popular meals in the country. Sandwiches are becoming more and more interesting and tasty with a huge range of fillings and lots of different types of bread. What do you prefer to make your sandwich with? Perhaps a baguette, or a fruit teacake, or a bap, or sliced bread, or pitta, or ciabatta or a bagel? And what do you like to sandwich between the bread? Leave me a comment and share your fave sarnie fillings!
To find out more about the history of the sandwich go to this site. Alternatively, for lots of sandwich facts and a list of the top 20 fillings, go here.

My favourite sandwich is a salad sandwich on toasted bread with lettuce, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, mayonnaise and onion.

One of my fave sandwiches is one I get from Delina's. It is a roast beef with rocket, sun-dried tomatoes and mustard sandwich on a brown baguette. Yummy!

I really like tinned salmon on plain sliced buttered bread.

Back in the US I like the Club Sandwich which is bacon, chicken, lettuce and tomato on sliced bread.

Hi!
We dressed up as huge sandwiches at Sainsburys Ashton and raised £80 for our local childrens ward! We ran a design a sandwich competition, the winning one being chicken, spring onion, kiwi and mayo on brown bread. We had lots of fun!
